How to Implement Instructional Strategies for English Language Learners

English language learners can experience anxiety which prevents them from moving forward in their learning, often this goes unnoticed by the teacher. This workshop will offer participants the opportunity to gain an understanding of the mindset of the English Language Learner while building a repertoire of classroom strategies.

The presenter, a seasoned instructor and education consultant shares a variety of instructional strategies that will: 

  • contribute to creating a positive learning environment  
  • motivate and empower learners 
  • help students connect to complex concepts 
  • focus on the importance of multilingual teaching  
  • demonstrate how to adapt lessons creatively and critically to meet the needs of ELLs.

Bio: Andrew Gryfe’s background in ESL stems from over 20 years of experience in the education profession. Along with his ongoing professional participation with the public school board, Andrew leads professional development workshops, speaks at various conferences and has been involved in creating programs for colleges and universities, private organizations and the government of Ontario.
